As a lifetime member of the British Hairdressing Hall of Fame, Charlie Taylor boasts quite a career! After training as a stylist in Scotland, she moved to London in 1984, where she worked alongside fellow top British Hairdresser, Trevor Sorbie. She returned to her Scottish roots three years later, and opened her first salon in Perth. Other impressive accolades include three-time-winner of Scottish hairdresser of the year, a second salon in Dundee established 20 years, a reputation as a coveted international stylist and educator, and numerous pieces of coverage across print, television and radio.
Charlie works alongside husband and Managing Director, Alastair. “We’ve worked together for 25 years now, and we’re still married!” Alastair laughs, “So I would say it’s going very well.” A background in economics, sales and marketing has given Alastair the keen sense of business awareness that, paired with Charlie’s reputable career, has made the chain so successful today.
Johnson Reed recently worked with the husband-and-wife team to help finance a refurbishment for both the Perth and Dundee sites. Through a simple leasing agreement, both salons were fitted out with bespoke Albert Ewan styling units, back washes, flooring and energy-efficient LED lighting. The new massage chairs are going down especially well with customers, helping to deliver that incredibly luxurious and hospitable service that makes visiting a salon such a treat!
