From strength to strength: Evolution gym hits Oswestry high street

Over the past couple of years, bodybuilding has taken the fitness scene by storm, and contrary to popular belief, it isn’t all about narcissistically ‘bulking up’. It’s fast becoming the preferred method of fitness training for men and women alike, helping gym-goers loose fat, build muscle, tone up and become stronger.
Director of Evolution Strength, Jimmy Hayns, has adopted this type of training since first stepping foot in the gym at the age of 16, and hasn’t looked back since. An avid footballer, Jimmy studied BTEC Sports Development and Fitness through college, and gained a Level 3 qualification in spinning before going onto train as a Physical Training Instructor for the RAF.
Realising a dream almost a decade old, he took the plunge and started strength and bodybuilding gym, Evolution Strength. Amongst the hustle and bustle of the Oswestry high street, the gym is the only of its kind in the town and surrounding area.
Keen to put great-quality equipment at the centre of the gym’s appeal, Jimmy approached Johnson Reed for help financing 70 units of new and refurbished fitness equipment. The selectorised pin stacks, solid frame plate load equipment, racks, benches, and an array of high-end cardio equipment provides an incredible member to equipment ratio of 1:4, where the average gym’s ratio is around 1:14. Having paid for use of a facility, it can be incredibly frustrating when you have to queue to use equipment during busy periods! The range of equipment on offer also broadens the Evolution’s appeal, accommodating many different types of training.
Starting up a new business, of course, doesn’t come without it’s challenges. One frequent issue is the lack of financial support available, with many traditional lenders turning down new-start applications.
